Welcome to Blooming Roots Academy, a faith based homeschool co-op where learning meets nature in the heart of Southern Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, yet easily accessible from Berks, Lehigh, and Carbon Counties. Our unique educational experience combines academic support with immersion in nature for elementary and secondary students. Through in-person academic and nature school instruction two days per week, along with virtual support other days, we aim to provide a well-rounded education that nurtures the mind and spirit. At Blooming Roots Academy, we believe in the power of nature to inspire learning, creativity, and personal growth.

Location
Meeting at the beautiful facility of Blue Mountain Christian Retreat outside New Ringgold, Pennsylvania, there is no shortage of nature available. From forest to stream to pond to greenhouses and farm fields, we are surrounded by nature, hiking, and wildlife.
Our Program

Nature Immersion
Immerse your child in the wonders of nature with our farm trips and outdoor exploration activities. At Blooming Roots Academy, we believe that direct contact with the natural environment is essential for holistic development. Through farm trips, nature walks, and hands-on experiences, students have the opportunity to observe, interact with, and learn from the world around them. Our nature immersion programs are designed to cultivate a deep appreciation for the environment, foster environmental stewardship, and instill a sense of wonder and respect for the natural world. Join us as we explore, discover, and connect with nature in meaningful and transformative ways.
Marci Howell
Marci brings over 30 years' experience in education to Blooming Roots. She has taught high school math and SAT Prep, both in person and online, public and private. She has also homeschooled her four children in K-12, tutored countless others, and is a homeschool evaluator. With some additional administrative experience, Marci has a broad knowledge base from which to pull inspiration. Although many years were spent in "traditional" education, Marci has become more and more frustrated with its one-size-fits-all approach and lack of flexibility. An individualized education, especially at the secondary level, is a priority.
Sarah Malis
Sarah's passion for nature and the outdoors is evident in her educational background and experience. With a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education, a Master's Degree in Special Education and Urban Education, and instructional licenses including agricultural education, special education, and principal administration, Sarah is well-equipped to instruct a variety of academics while immersing children in nature. Her expertise in education and leadership make her an excellent advocate for healthy living and outdoor activities.
